About The Health Heroine
Aileen Smith is The Health Heroine and former Owner/Director of The Catering People ltd, a hugely successful food and hospitality company. Owing to working hard, gaining weight and struggling to maintain high energy while running her business, Aileen made it her mission to learn as much as possible about how to stay healthy while living a demanding life.
As such, over the past decade, Aileen has gained extensive knowledge about how to eat for energy, and has created a toolbox of stress management techniques that really WORK!
A passionate, high-achieving woman herself, Aileen is passionate about – and highly experienced in – helping other women achieve extraordinary goals, especially when it comes to achieving optimum health and energy. After almost thirty years of working in the food industry Aileen is a ‘foodie’ at heart, believing food is fuel but should always be fun, pleasurable and a social celebration.
“Our choice of food is our choice of life; choosing the right foods will have THE most amazing impact on your body and your way of living,” says Aileen.
Aileen set up The Health Heroine business with a mission to “help women in business invest in their health in a way which will empower them to gain more energy, clarity and body confidence in order to maximise their professional performance and to live life to the full outside of the business world”.
Meet Aileen and get inspired!
In 2012, I celebrated my 50th birthday in the best shape of my adult life, the lightest, the most energetic, the most confident I’ve ever been. I walked and climbed my way along the 11-day Tour Du Mont Blanc in the Alps, I ran a Personal Best in a half marathon, I struggled to pick a dress for my birthday party, only this time it was because I looked fabulous in everything instead of not finding anything to fit!
It hasn’t always been this way…
In 2000 I set up a catering business, over the following years I worked very hard alongside my business partners to develop and grow the company. We created a great business, employing 300 people with a turnover of £10 million, which we later sold to a larger company.
I worked 24/7, spent hours every week on the motorway or on trains and often living in hotels. You’d think that being in the food sector would give me access to good food whenever I needed it, however I found that I ate at unsociable times, often with hours in between each meal, I’d try my hardest to make healthy choices, sometimes I was successful and sometimes not.
“Most business owners will agree that running a business often takes a toll on your health and I was no exception”
Five or six years into the business I felt exhausted, stressed, lacking energy and was 60lbs overweight. I just knew that I had to take control of my life.
Ever since then I’ve been on a journey, losing weight, changing my body shape, increasing my energy levels. I’ve never looked back; yoyo dieting is over for me! I managed my stress levels and had the energy needed to run a demanding business. Year on year I have upleveled my health and fitness.
The Health Heroine was borne out of my passion to help women in business live more healthily. I’ve had lots of struggles over the years to reach my current levels of health and fitness; none of it has been easy. It’s taken quite a few years to learn how my body works inside and out and what it responds best to; I wish I’d had someone to fast track me like I fast track my clients today. The revelation for me has been not just how to manage my weight but how a holistic approach to my health has delivered unprecedented levels of energy and clarity, and that’s what’s changed my approach to how I live my life.
What I’ve discovered that I teach my clients:
- Everyone is individual and that no one approach will suit all.
- You may have to learn by trial and test what works best for you.
- Work out what is in your stress bucket and how to empty it regularly.
- Create a powerful life vision for your body and health – this is vital to your success.
- Planning and preparation is key and if you haven’t got time to do it yourself – delegate. Get help!
- Approach changing your lifestyle step-by-step. Move in the right direction, fast enough to get where you want to be, but slow enough to make changes, which will last a lifetime.
- Which foods to eat to enhance energy production as well as your mood and mindset.
- How to enjoy every step of your success.
- How to introduce a cycle of continuous health improvements, which is simple and transformational.
- How to start on the journey of good health and how to continue every single day.
If you’re ready to take control of your health
and live a life of energy then…
